375e Anniversaire de la première messe célébrée sur la rive-sud

À l’occasion du dimanche de Pâques, le 9 avril à la messe de 11h00, on soulignera à l’église Saint-Josept le 375e anniversaire de la première messe c.l.brée sur la rive-sud de Québec.
Bien que Québec ait été fondée en 1608, il aura fallu attendre 1636 avant que la Seigneurie soir concédée à Jean de Lauzon et il faudra attendre 1647 avant quèun premier colon, Guillaume Couture, entreprenne des travaux en vue d’un établissement permanent sur la rive-sud, pour lui ainsi que pour François Bissot.
Le 12 avril 1648, jour de Pâques, le père Pierre Bailloquet, jésuite, débarque à la Grève Joliette pour célébrer la première messe à la Pointe-Lévy, messe qui aurait été célébrée dans la première demeure érigée par Guillaume Couture.
Il est intéressant de rappeler que les établissements de Bissot et de Couture se retrouvaient de part et dèautre d’un ruisseau qui s’écoule toujours aujourd’hui à l’arrièere du Couvent et s’écoule dans une canalisation enfouie sous l’église actuelle.
À l’occasion de cette célébration, on rappellera un évènement qui a marqué l’histoire de notre région, mais aussi la Résurrection de Jésus. Vous êtes donc tous invités à venir célébrer cette double occasion de réjouissance.

On the occasion of Easter Sunday, April 9th, at the 11:00 am Mass, the 375th anniversary of the first celebrated mass on the south shore of Quebec will be highlighted at the St. Joseph Church.
Although Quebec was founded in 1608, it was not until 1636 that the Seigneurie was granted to Jean de Lauzon and it would take until 1647 before a first settler, Guillaume Couture, undertook work towards a permanent settlement on the south shore, along with François Bissot.
